The JUDGES...

Paulo Pereira is a vocalist and songwriter. He began performing as the leader of the band Viriato and released his first solo album in 2004. Also in 2004, he was 1 of 10 finalists in the CBC’s “Great Canadian Music Contest”. In 2008, he represented Canada’s Portuguese community at RTP’s Lusavox Festival. He is currently working on his first album in Portuguese... thanks Paulo

Stephanie Tavares has been singing professionally for about 8 years and is graduate of the Humber College Music Program. She has released 1 album and has performed across Canada and the Carribbean... thanks for being here Stephanie

Joe Ress has over 35 years experience in the music industry as an award winning musician, vocalist, songwriter, arranger, programmer, producer and actor in film, television and theater and as a world class tribute artist. Joe has performed throughout Canada, the U.S.A., the Caribbean, Europe and Australia. Joe is presently the Director of Education for  iSTARS, Artist Development and Musical Performing Arts Centre in Scarborough... thanks Joe

Michelle Madeira is an award winning singer/songwriter that some of you may remember from Season 3 of Canadian Idol where she made the Top 32. Others may be familiar with her as the 2008 winner of Mississauga Future Star. She is in the process of releasing a Portuguese album called Fronteiras as well as recording her debut English album. Thanks Michelle

Hernani Raposo is a musician, composer, arranger, conductor and producer. He owns Midi-Tech Studios and is one of the most sought after producers in the Portuguese community. Hernani also works with many international recording artists, having earned 3 platinum records with Mexican record company, Discos Musart. Currently most of his live performances are devoted to playing the Portuguese guitar for Fado. The adult winner of this contest will be recording their CD at Hernani’s Midi-Tech Studios... thanks Hernani  

Zack Werner is someone that most of you will know from Canadian Idol. Zack has been involved in music since he was a child and began working as a musician in his early teens. He has worked for Capitol Records, MCA and is co-founder of Venus Corporation, a company which supplies artist management and has its own record label which is affiliated with EMI. Zack is a musician, producer, writer, manager, lawyer and works in artist development. He is arguably one of the most important people in the Canadian music industry.
